Because the fate of the integral paradigm probably hinges on the successful integration of science, religion, and spirituality, I examine key features of “Integral Science,” which, as it has been defined hitherto in the integral discourse, falls short of honoring all of science’s standards. I argue that scientific and mythic realities are both essential. The concept of mythos should be under stood in evolutionary terms all the way up to turquoise altitude and not be relegated to premodern stages of psychocultural development. The unique contribution of science to Western culture can then be reevaluated. Science reveals the spiritual dimension of material reality; it gives rise to powerful narratives about the origins of the universe and life as well as human nature. Paradoxically, science, once considered the “myth-killer,” is generating today’s new mythic reality.
